Wisconsin EXCEL CLUB
Eleven Excel of WI members welcomed Spring the weekend of May 16-18, 2014 at the Chapparal Campground in Wonewoc (that's just west of Baraboo & Wisconsin Dells for you non-Wisconsinites). We were treated to cool cloudy weather until leave leave out day - Sunday. Not to be kept inside by Mother Nature, members visited the nearby Wisconsin Big Cat Rescue, helped the local economy of Reedsburg by shopping their city wide garage sales, and enjoyed the Old Fashioned Days in Wonewoc with an old car/tractor display; potato brats, cream puffs and oysters on the half shell; all culminating in a local parade complete with thrown candy, fire trucks, local politicians and even an 8-horse hitch.
Elections were held at the business meeting with every officer succeeding themselves for another 2 year term. President - Deb Neidermeier; Vice-President - Marion O'Kray; Sec/Treas - Karen Benton.
May we recommend the Chapparal Campground in Wonewoc and owners Denny and Diane as a super place to visit for a nice quiet stay in the woods of southwest Wisconsin.
Plans were outlined for our unofficial summer outing in Springfield, IL from May 30 to June 5 at the Double J campground. Emphasis will be on all things Lincoln.
The Fall Excel of WI outing site for September 5-7 (the weekend after Labor Day) has yet to be announced.
